Soaps
Silk is not only used as a material for high-quality textiles; silk protein is also a high-quality ingredient for cosmetics and exclusive luxury soaps. Silk plays a valuable and effective role in skin care. Swiss silk producers represent, among many other things, a very nourishing silk soap here.
In the 1930s, it was discovered in a silk factory in Tokyo that all the women working there had particularly soft and delicate hands. Silk was quickly identified as the culprit and the foundation was laid for the development of valuable skin care products based on silk proteins.
Silk in cosmetics
Real silk is not only a valuable natural product, it is also a popular ingredient in cosmetic products. Silk protein is made from real silk fibres and has particularly moisturising properties for skin and hair.
Silk consists mainly of proteins and has a pH value that is very well tolerated by the skin. Today, the skin-caring properties of silk are utilised in numerous cosmetic products.
Silk proteins protect the skin and make it fresh and radiant. Silk powder has been used for centuries in traditional Chinese medicine to treat skin problems. Silk has a calming effect on the skin - and is also said to have an anti-ageing effect. But silk proteins not only soothe the skin and hair, they also moisturise, which is why they are often used in creams, shampoos, shower gels and bath additives.
The sericin contained in silk proteins is particularly skin-friendly and moisturising. The so-called silk fibroins also penetrate into the deeper layers of the skin, where they provide 300 times the moisture of conventional skincare products. Silk proteins protect the skin from UV radiation, smooth the hair, make it resistant and leave it shiny.
Silk is very similar to human skin and is therefore particularly good at regulating heat and moisture. By promoting collagen synthesis and reducing the inflammatory process, silk also accelerates wound healing. All these unrivalled properties make silk suitable for everyone. However, people with skin problems particularly benefit from this precious gift of nature.
